  • Well, it seems like forever since I was on here.  Actually, it has been.  To be honest, I forgot about this site.  I finally got a job and just didn't have time to write anymore.  Sad isn't it?  Well, I'm trying to start this again so we'll see how it goes...

This morning I woke up around 3:30am and had this terrible feeling of doubt and worry.  I am going through another move and the idea of finding a place to live and a job started causing me to worry.  I couldn't sleep.  Didn't know what we would do if nothing came of a job and we had to live in a basement for awhile.  On my way to work this morning, I had a talk with myself (no, I don't usually talk to myself) and told Satan to get out of my mind.  I realized that these were his words of doubt and worry.  I know I have a God who will take care of me and provide everything I need.  I don't have to worry, stress or doubt anything.  He is the ultimate provider.  Jeremiah 29:11 says "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."  I know that God will provide...He says so.  So why do we worry and stress over what is unseen?  Why can't we just give it all to Him to take care of?  This morning I did just that.  I'm not going to allow myself to doubt or worry about our future.  Just trust in Him...He will provide!

    Stuff

Well, so far I haven't done a great job at keeping this up, so we're going to try again.  Really, not much new is happening.  We are loving the church we're at and can't wait to get more involved.  Chris is doing a great job with the youth and they love him.  I am still jobless, but I don't mind.  It's been nice to be home and help him out at work.  He has been playing drums for them and I am singing this Sunday.  It was nice to get back on stage again.  I missed that part of church!

I did go to the library this week and invested in a library card.  Since I love to read and at the moment have alot of time on my hands, I figured this is the cheapest way to enjoy my books.  I picked up one of the new books by Ted Dekker, "Showdown" and will be starting that today.  I absolutely love the kind of books Ted Dekker and Frank Peretti write!  I could read these non-stop if allowed too!  I'll be sure and let you know how it turns out.

Chris' sister is coming to spend the next couple of nights with us and that will be fun.  It'll be nice to have family here for awhile.  We miss them all!

So, I don't know about where you are, but it has been raining all day and all week, just about!  I really believe it when people say it gets worse the farther north you get!  I just spoke with a friend in Crawfordsville and she said it wasn't raining there now but they did get a lot of rain overnight.  Their basement flooded again...really, their house should be called the "Ark!"

    Facing the Giants

So have you seen Facing the Giants?  We watched it last night with our high school and I highly recommend it!  You don't really see a lot of good Christian movies anymore and this just went to the top of our list!

If you haven't seen it, I won't spoil it, but it does nail down the verse "With God all things are possible."  It is easy to forgot how powerful our God is.  We try to do the impossible on our own and then get upset with God for not making it happen.  But we forget that the verse doesn't say, "with us all things are possible," we have to have GOD!  Only He can achieve the impossible.  God is greater than anything we can possibly imagine and we need to remember that every day!

Question:  Is what seems impossible possible?

  • Camp!

Well, today we went to the camp that our church supports...Lake James Christian Camp.  It is on 27 acres and a lake front!  Very nice in the summertime, I'm sure!  It is a great facility and the view is amazing.  Apparently, Lake James has 3-4 lakes in the area.  The camp just sits on one and it is gorgeous! I can't imagine what it will look like this summer!

Going there made me think of my home camp.  I remember the 1st time I went to camp, maybe 1st or 2nd grade...it was called "First Chance Camp."  I cried the first day...I was scared but tried not to let on.  I told all my friends that I was crying because my best friends parents were divorcing, but they knew better!  This was my first time away from family and I was scared...I admit it.  But after that 1st full day, I fell in love with camp!  The friends and experiences I had at Camp Como are forever in my mind.  I made my decision to follow Christ at JR High camp.  Our 'theme' for the week was every day was a different holiday.  So on Easter, we took a trek through the woods and mountain and landing at the foot of the cross.  It was there that I decided I want to follow Jesus and make Him my Savior.  I even remember what the leader was talking about.  We were obviously talking about Christ's sacrifice, and I knew that story, but what I didn't really realize until then was that he made that sacrifice for me.  So that I could lay all my sin at his feet...He had already paid the price.  We each had been carrying a rock or sack or something and we had to lay it at the foot of the cross.  I went forward that day and the following Sunday I was baptized at my home church by my dad.  It was an amazing time and one I will never forget!

I have other less serious memories of camp, like the times we use to raid the guys cabins after dark with toilet paper and such or the times we had "toilet" rules because of low water levels..."if it's yellow let it mellow, if it's brown flush it down."  I even worked at a camp one summer and needless to say, the staff are worse then kids and usually got in more trouble!  : )

Really, camp was an experience I wish everyone can have.  The kids here at DCC haven't gone to camp at all over the past couple of years, so we are really trying to push it.  They have no idea what is in store for them if they come...it can be a life changing experience!

Welcome to my world...I hope you enjoy your visit!  I've been in Decatur for 11 days now and am trying to get use to the new town.  There are way too many 1 way roads so watching the signs is very important I have found out.  But I do like this town as it does have a Super Walmart and Super Kmart and neither are 30 minutes from where I live!  I now know where the post office, the insurance company and the Burger King is...I am so proud of myself.

The people at church have been very helpful and caring about Chris & I.  This is a "hugging" church and that has made the transition easier for us...though we still miss our friends a lot!  But luckily we have phone and e-mail!

I just got back from eating lunch with the minister's wife, Tammy, and her grandson Lucas.  We went to Burger King b/c it had a play ground that Lucas, who is 2 1/2, could play on.  Unfortunately, for us, it was closed and he couldn't play, but he did very well despite that!  Tammy is a very sweet lady and I have enjoyed getting to know her.  She is a true Southern girl and cooks SOOOO well...it is all homemade!  Yum!  I'm very excited about getting to know her and the other ladies in church.  Already, I've had one lady want my help with Scrapbooking and if you know anything about me, you know that I love doing that!  : )  So maybe I should just do what Kristen & I've always talked about...just open my own scrapbooking store?!?  Sound like a plan?

Anyway, things here in Decatur are going really well.  I am still looking for a job, but I know that the right job will come along at God's time, not mine.  I know He will provide for Chris & I, I just need to keep waiting patiently!

Well, better go...Duke is sitting patiently waiting for me to get done so we can play a bit.  And of course, Missy, our cat, is sleeping!  Imagine that!

    More later!
